Representatives of the Croatian Rural Development Network participated in the workshop and policy lab “LEADER-CLLD – Thriving Local Communities Today and in the New Programming Period 2028+”, held from 15 to 18 June 2026 in Seget Donji, near Trogir.
The workshop was organised by the Croatian LEADER Network and the Croatian Rural Development Network in cooperation with LAG Zagora. It provided a platform for Local Action Groups to exchange experiences, discuss the implementation of the LEADER-CLLD approach to date, and develop recommendations for its preservation and further strengthening in the future programming period from 2028 onwards.
During the programme, participants discussed the role of LAGs in the development of rural and coastal areas, their contribution to community-led local development and territorial cohesion, and the importance of innovative, multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary solutions within local communities.
Particular emphasis was placed on the future financial and programming framework, the development needs of local communities, and opportunities to strengthen the LEADER-CLLD approach in the preparation of future policies at the national and European levels.
The workshop included panel discussions, thematic group work, exchanges of experience and the preparation of guidelines for future action. The programme also featured field visits to examples of good practice in the Dalmatian hinterland, focusing on sustainable development, local heritage, entrepreneurship, natural resources and local community development.
By participating in the workshop, HMRR contributed to the discussion on the future of the LEADER-CLLD approach and further highlighted the importance of involving local stakeholders in shaping development policies that respond to the actual needs of rural areas.
