The Croatian Rural Development Network participated in the 6th Slovenian Rural Parliament, held on 11 and 12 June 2026 in Ilirska Bistrica. The event was organised by the Slovenian Rural Development Network in cooperation with local stakeholders and institutions.
The Slovenian Rural Parliament brought together representatives of rural communities, Local Action Groups, civil society organisations, the public sector, experts and other rural development stakeholders. Its purpose was to exchange experiences, address key development issues and develop common guidelines for the future of rural areas.
The programme focused on topics of particular importance to rural areas, including rural tourism, housing, access to services, food self-sufficiency, the position of young people in rural communities and the contribution of the LEADER/CLLD approach to local development.
For HMRR, participation in the event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with Slovenian partners, strengthen regional cooperation and compare the challenges faced by rural communities in Croatia and Slovenia.
The discussions on the role of local communities, Local Action Groups and participatory processes in creating sustainable, inclusive and more resilient rural areas were particularly valuable.
